Copenhagen Irish Festival will celebrate its 40th years anniversary November 2. and 3. 2018 at Kulturstationen Vanløse and the programme will be extra grand this year…

Friday at 16.30 it all starts at the Irish Festival Café. Come along and enjoy an Irish coffee or a glass of Irish beer while watching the short film, The Yellow Bittern about the Irish singer Liam Clancy. At 18.30 the open jam session welcomes all players of traditional Irish music who would like to join in with their instruments. At 20.00 the double concert starts in the concert hall. DERVISH and Cathy Jordan are first on the stage and after the intermission the singer Karan Casey will charm everybody with her beautiful voice and renditions of Irish ballads.

Saturday at 14.00 the movie Natural Grace abut the fiddler Martin Hayes, will be shown at the Festival Café. At 15.30 the open jam session will commence and at 20.00 the double concert in the concert hall with the band ALTAN, a band known for their spell-binding performances of reels and jigs followed by singer and musican on fiddle and tin whistle, Cara Dillon in a duo with Sam Lakeman.

Also on Saturday, in the concert hall, at 16.00 – 18.00 there is the Céili – Irish dance party with live music and  instructors from Dark Green School of Irish Dancing and Copenhagen Irish Set Dancers,. Everyone can participate, so bring your family and friends along to try Irish dancing.


Top line-up på årets Copenhagen Irish Festival 2. og 3. november 2018. Scenen er sat  på Kulturstationen i Vanløse , hvor festivalen fejrer sit 40 års jubilæum.

Intet mindre end fire af de allerbedste irske sangerinder spiller hovedrollerne på årets irske festival i København. For det er Cathy Jordan med Dervish og Mairéad Ni Mhaonaigh med Altan foruden Karan Casey og Cara Dillon, der står på årets plakat. I de seneste to-tre årtier har de beriget den traditionelle, irske musik med deres indlysende talenter, fortolkninger og sangskrivning. De hører ganske enkelt til i toppen af irsk musik. At have disse fire kvindelige musikere med så smukke og meget forskellige stemmer samt deres bands på scenen i løbet af to dage er et scoop.
